Kids Activities

As we are all spending more time at home lately I thought it would be a good time to share some of our favorite activities to do with the kids to help get the wiggles out and to learn new things!

1. Gonge River stones and hilltops

They have lots of sets you can buy and add to the fun but we started with these and have used them quite a lot. It’s great for practicing balance as well as colors. The kids like to set up a path or obstacle course, pretend the ground is hot lava so you can’t fall off! We also sing the colors as they go from stone to stone which is fun. They come with other fun activity ideas in a pamphlet as well. Bonus: they nestle inside of each other nicely for storage

These are great quality and well used here but not cheap – you could use mounded up blankets or pillows to get a similar effect for some fun indoor games.

2. Little Tikes trampoline

Who doesn’t love a trampoline? It has a handle to help them stay balanced and fits inside easily. The kids love jumping on it and it’s a great energy burner.

3. B. Toys Hop and Glow

A fun ball to bounce around on in the house. It has light up balls inside of it and is another great way to get some wiggles out. Also fun to race each other on these.

4. Kumon activity books

There are lots of options and we have the cutting, folding, sticker and pasting books. They have been a big hit for a small price and we get them out frequently. It is great practice with hand eye coordination and learning skills they will need for lots of future projects.

5. Magnatiles

We have these out every single day – hands down our most used toys. They use them for all sorts of imaginative play and it is so fun to see what they come up with. I also like how easy they are to store and there are lots of fun sets you can get to add to each other. While there are some off brands that are nice quality, the magnets aren’t quite as strong in my experience so more easily frustrate the younger kids. For younger kids I would say get the magnatiles especially since there’s lots of years to use them if you can afford it.

6. Crayons Color Wonder

This has got to be the smartest creation ever. Mess free markers…….. a total game changer! This has been so fun for the kids and low stress for me. The markers only work on the special Crayola coloring pages which means no marker on my ottoman, on my floor or table or clothes…….. total win.

7. Elmers Rainbow Slime Kit

A fun science experiment type activity that the kids could really get into. Just a warning though – you also need baking soda and contact solution to make this work!

8. Wipe Clean Workbook

We have several different workbooks that we like and it’s so nice they wipe clean so they can be used over and over again. Jacob and Georgia enjoy “playing” school and practicing their letters, numbers, colors and many other things.

9. The Learning Journey Match It!

There are 3 matching options in one here – counting, addition and subtraction. It’s nice to have an activity that will grow with your kids for a bit as they learn.

10. Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube

Most days we have taken time to do an episode or two of cosmic yoga together. She is an animated story teller and does yoga moves to match the plot, keeping everyone engaged and entertained. It’s simple and fun.

While the new routines we have found ourselves in can be a challenge, it can also have blessings and it’s ok and normal to feel both things strongly and at different times throughout this period.

I have appreciated the ideas and inspiration for activities to do with kids I’ve been seeing and thought I would pass on what we have found to be fun ♥

Hi! I’m Emily Saladino and I am excited to be sharing ideas on lifestyle, homemaking, child rearing and spiritual growth. My husband, Josh, and I have 3 kids that we are raising in western Michigan where I am originally from. We aren’t in our forever home yet – in the process of searching and praying for the perfect piece of land or existing house that just speaks to us – out in the country with space to roam. Both of us are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and I work part time to stay home with the kids the majority of the week. I enjoy decorating, fashion, cooking and overall management of our home – striving to make it healthy, happy and slowing down the pace of life. Hopefully this page can be a place of inspiration and add value to your day
