Freedom Moses Sandals

This summer I wanted to get a pair of slide sandals that were water friendly, easy to clean and comfy for running in and out with the kids but still looked put together.

I have other Birkenstock leather sandals that I love so they seemed like the obvious choice with their popular EVA sandals. So, I ordered a navy blue pair to try them out. In my searching I also stumbled across the Freedom Moses (FM) plastic slide so decided to try them out as well and compare. Almost immediately I preferred the FM over the Birkenstock which I returned. I have been wearing the FM all summer and have been really happy with them!

The FM is made of PCU (polycarbonate urethrane) which is a plastic that can be recycled, it is vegan and is light weight as well as water proof. They inject their sandals with air making them quite soft compared to their competitor. They aren’t as lightweight as the Birkenstock but that does not mean they are heavy – they are still light and I actually think the material feels higher quality and more cushioned. Birkenstock uses EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) which is a synthetic type of rubber that is also lightweight and water proof.

They are both molded sandals so aren’t going to change shape like the leather Birkenstock’s do over time to fit your foot better.

The Birkenstock buckles are adjustable if you have an especially wide foot and are a contrasting color. FM are not adjustable but the buckles are almost always monochromatic which I prefer.  Also, FM seems to me to be less bulky on my foot which I also like.

Birkenstock has a good range of color options but it pales in comparison to FM that has around 80 color or print options. They both have mens and womens sizes available and the prices are comparable as well.

Summer isn’t over yet so if you are looking for a functional sandal to get ya through I recommend trying FM for sure.
