Valentine’s Day
This is a holiday that gets slammed for its commercialism and people who partake in it can be viewed as shallow and superficial. Well guess what? I love Valentines Day!!! I like flowers and candy and the colors red and pink. I like affirmations of love and taking a day to bestow that on those around you whether it’s your significant other, kids, friends, pets or even yourself. It’s also a nice break from the mid winter drearies, adds a little excitement. This doesn’t mean it has to be over the top, just have a little fun.
Our kids take the standard valentines of their choosing to their school friends and get so excited to bring home their bags of valentines, stickers, temporary tattoos and whatever else was given to them.
We have a few Valentines books we like to read like Llama Llama I Love You, Eric Carle’s LOVE and some touch and feel books for the baby.
As for me, I like to get out my black tinsel tree that I use for my fall decorations and turn it into my Valentines tree. My favorite thematic ornaments are from Old World Christmas and I was able to get some mini sweet heart ornaments in various colors and I just love them! It goes in the middle of our dining room table and adds a little flamboyant fun to the house for a couple of weeks while we wait for spring.

Hi! I’m Emily Saladino and I am excited to be sharing ideas on lifestyle, homemaking, child rearing and spiritual growth. My husband, Josh, and I have 3 kids that we are raising in western Michigan where I am originally from. We aren’t in our forever home yet – in the process of searching and praying for the perfect piece of land or existing house that just speaks to us – out in the country with space to roam. Both of us are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and I work part time to stay home with the kids the majority of the week. I enjoy decorating, fashion, cooking and overall management of our home – striving to make it healthy, happy and slowing down the pace of life. Hopefully this page can be a place of inspiration and add value to your day
