Easter Decor

Since things in the world and at home have been so crazy and disrupted, Easter’s approach kind of snuck up on me. But warmer spring weather, bulbs and buds starting to make their appearance all point towards it and I’m happy to have something to look forward to!

We are Christians so the real celebration surrounding Easter is remembering the sacrifice Jesus made for us all on the cross and how much He loves us. He also gave us this lovely spring season with all of its beauty and new life to enjoy and we are thankful for that too.

I did a post a few weeks ago highlighting the spring and Easter books we have been enjoying with the kids. This post is about how I enjoy decorating for Easter and the arrival of spring.

My Easter tree was given to me and each of my sisters by my mom when I was maybe 8-9 years old. She would give us an ornament for it each year and mine were Hallmark Barbie’s which are so cute and I can’t to hand them down to our girls.

Once again I went to Old World Christmas for my favorite ornaments. They are so detailed and sweet with a mix of religious and spring objects. They are breakable so they took a few year hiatus until some of our kids were older and would leave them alone…… now I just have to keep the cats from batting at them!

Over the years I’ve also accumulated some bunny figurines I enjoy – I like having a pop of color with my Easter decor, feels light hearted and whimsical. The faux foil bunnies are so sweet, there are some available on ebay.

I had some egg ornaments I thought I would part with this year but decided instead to put them on the tree in Jacobs room to liven things up and he was excited to help put them on.

Each season when I get out my respective decorations I like to evaluate what I still enjoy and what I need to part with. My goal is to keep the decorations for a particular season or holiday  (besides Christmas……. Obviously! ) contained to one plastic tub so if I feel like I want some new décor then I plan on having something that will be replaced so I’m not hanging on to a lot of excess.

What things do you like to have out or change up for spring?

Hi! I’m Emily Saladino and I am excited to be sharing ideas on lifestyle, homemaking, child rearing and spiritual growth. My husband, Josh, and I have 3 kids that we are raising in western Michigan where I am originally from. We aren’t in our forever home yet – in the process of searching and praying for the perfect piece of land or existing house that just speaks to us – out in the country with space to roam. Both of us are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and I work part time to stay home with the kids the majority of the week. I enjoy decorating, fashion, cooking and overall management of our home – striving to make it healthy, happy and slowing down the pace of life. Hopefully this page can be a place of inspiration and add value to your day
