Paint by Number

I really like to decorate our house with art on the walls, specifically paintings. The problem is, however, real paintings can get quite pricey and I don’t care for prints. That being said, I decided to attempt a paint by number about 4 years ago. I am not naturally good at drawing or painting, someday I think it would be fun to take classes for painting but in the mean time, I’ve been quite happy with the results of my paint by numbers!

Jacobs room

So far I have completed 2 paintings and am well into number three. I’ve decided to do one for each of our children to hang in their rooms. When those are done I will be excited to do one for the main living area of our house.

There are so many styles to choose from, literally anything one could want and they usually cost $16-29 which includes the canvas, paints and a cheap set of paint brushes. I did end up buying a slightly higher quality set of brushes that I can clean and use repeatedly and I’ve been happy with the investment.

After I complete a painting I have taken them to Hobby Lobby to get custom framing done. I really like gold frames with some kind of design on them. Obviously the thicker the framing and the more intricate, the more expensive it is but the results are totally worth it! Since it is something I put time into creating, that makes it even more meaningful I think.

I have purchased all of my painting kits from Amazon but Etsy has some cool options too as well as custom design options. You can send in a picture and someone will create a paint by number canvas for you based off of it, ingenious!

With most people spending more time at home lately, I thought this would be a good suggestion for something new and creative to try for an affordable price. Something that you can hang on to for a long time and enjoy.

I’ve linked lots of paintings I really like that are currently available on Amazon! Click the picture to be directed to the listing.

Hi! I’m Emily Saladino and I am excited to be sharing ideas on lifestyle, homemaking, child rearing and spiritual growth. My husband, Josh, and I have 3 kids that we are raising in western Michigan where I am originally from. We aren’t in our forever home yet – in the process of searching and praying for the perfect piece of land or existing house that just speaks to us – out in the country with space to roam. Both of us are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and I work part time to stay home with the kids the majority of the week. I enjoy decorating, fashion, cooking and overall management of our home – striving to make it healthy, happy and slowing down the pace of life. Hopefully this page can be a place of inspiration and add value to your day
